Public warned to leave WHPHA vehicles alone

The people of Western Highlands have been warned not to steal vehicles belonging to the Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority (WHPHA) or face the consequences. In a strong message to the public, the management has warned that if its vehicles are continuously targeted and stolen, it will have no choice but to close services at Mt Hagen Hospital.

Orientation of USAID HIV Support in PNG Program in WHP

A new aid program supporting HIV interventions in PNG is helping to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS in the country. Known as the USAID HIV Support in PNG Program, the aid is provided by the people of America and is managed by FHI 360 (Family Health International) to fund initiatives by health partners to reduce the spread of HIV, especially among children.

Fifth Round Integrated SIA in WHP

The fifth round of the nation-wide polio vaccination program for children aged five years and below started on Monday, 8th April and will end next Tuesday, 22nd April 2019. While most provinces are concentrating on the polio program alone, there are some that are using the opportunity to carry out integrated Supplementary Immunisation Activities (SIA) to save cost and also protect children from being infected by other preventable diseases.

The remote village of Kanimareta in the Mul/Baiyer District of Western Highlands is the 23rd area in the country to have a community health post (CHP) built. It is one of 32 CHPs to be built across the country to serve the rural people under a 2009 decision of the National Government to provide health services close to the people.
