A new chapter of support for frontline health services unfolded this week as World Vision Mt Hagen Office donated a 10-seater vehicle to the Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority’s TB and HIV Clinic.
The handover ceremony, held last Tuesday at the Provincial Health Headquarters car park, saw Grants Operation Supervisor Richard Kebo and World Vision representatives present the keys to Director of Public Health, Mr. Dannex Kupamu in the presence of few WHPHA staff members.
This donation marks World Vision’s Global Grant Cycle 7 support to WHPHA’s TB/HIV program.
In receiving the vehicle, Mr. Kupamu expressed heartfelt gratitude, pledging that the vehicle would be well cared for and used strictly for its intended purpose in servingpatients affected by TB and HIV/AIDS.
TB Program Manager, Mr. Mark Dupi, welcomed the timely intervention, noting that the program’s previous vehicle had served for over a decade and was no longer reliable for field operations.
“After long-standing consultations and logistics discussions over the years, World Vision has now stepped forward with this tremendous support, and we are deeply grateful,” he said.
He further commended the Global Fund for its long-standing commitment, emphasizing that continued support is vital in addressing the heavy disease burden and ensuring patient care remains paramount.
Mr. Kebo, before officially handing over the keys, stated that since establishing its Mt Hagen office in 2025, World Vision has been committed to responding to challenges faced by WHPHA’s TB and HIV programs.
“After all, these are our people and with such support, we hope to help you deliver your work promptly,” he said, while urging the TB/HIV team to look after the vehicle so it, in turn, can serve them in delivering healthcare services.
He noted that World Vision has already provided 156 assets, including computers and GeneXpert machines, with this vehicle marking the 157th contribution.
Hospital Manager, Ms. Serah Dot, closed the ceremony by thanking World Vision for its continuous support and partnership in patient care and wellbeing. She noted that the previous support and donations have relieved WHPHA of additional financial strain and this now too will directly enhance service delivery to communities in need.
