Work progresses well on new Covid-19 quarantine and isolation unit

Construction work on the new expanded Covid-19 quarantine and isolation unit at Mt Hagen Hospital is expected to be completed soon.

The building is now half complete with four steel frames put up and the concrete slab completed within the area covered by the frames. The side walls have also been put up and the roof covered with the necessary fittings added such as the gutters and down pipes.

Kemele Constructions, the company contracted to carry out earth works and do the concrete slab is now preparing to complete the rest of the concrete floor and complete the remaining eight cement blocks where the rest of the steel frames would stand.

Once this is completed, most probably within the next month, PNG Springsmiths would bring in the rest of the pre-fabricated steel frames and stand them, making it ready for Kemele to put up the rest of the walls and roofing iron, completing the project.
